School and Group Professional Fittings - Contact Us To Schedule an Appointment

Motion Unlimited has been providing the Chicagoland area professional point shoe fittings for more than 35 years.

Each year we travel to companies and schools to provide group fittings, including fitting appointments at Toe The Line Dance Store in Buffalo Grove, IL.

From the beginning pointe student through the seasoned performer, we are committed to finding the best shoe for each dancer.

Our stock is full with shoes for:
-Beginners- getting your first pair is very exciting!
-Serious Students- looking to refine your pointe shoes or get advice for any problem areas
-Professionals- looking for performance ready shoes, and always interested in the new styles available

The staff at Motion Unlimited fit multiple dancers for pointe shoes every week; we understand that no two feet are alike!

The fitters in the store go through a training period to learn to properly fit pointe shoes, even if they are pointe dancers themselves.

Anyone coming into the store will always get an experienced fitter to help them find a properly fitted pointe shoe, with the average experience of our fitters being 5+ years.

Renowned teacher and owner of Motion Unlimited Greg Begley values the knowledge that is shared with pointe dancers during every fitting. A proper fitting should offer guidance and support for the dancers growth in their pointe work.

The value in having an experienced fitter conducting your fitting offers a lesson about pointe shoes, the way they fit and how they should feel, the support the shoe provides, and solutions to feet discomfort, and many other ways to enhance, strengthen, and mold the shoes to your feet. The personal care the fitter provides saves you time searching for the best shoe for you. Their supportive effort is to help you be a stronger pointe dancer.

There is no appointment required for our In-Store Professional Fitting, which includes a quality fitting with a general analysis of your foot shape, professional guidance with picking the best shoe for you, and recommendations to help alleviate problems.

We are available for several types of fittings:
-In-Store Professional Fitting- walk-in’s welcome up to one hour prior to closing;
appointments are accepted
-Group Fittings In-Store- for small groups; call ahead and schedule a group fitting
-School/Company Fittings- location fittings for larger groups; contact us for more information
-Extended Advanced Professional Fitting- individual or group in-depth fitting personalized to the needs of the dancer

New to pointe students receive information about pointe shoes, needed accessories, preparing the shoes, and taking care of them. We always advise dancers to check with their teacher first before doing anything to their new shoes, including sewing ribbons and elastic on them.

We ask for current pointe students to bring in their old shoes to discuss how those shoes "broke in," as this helps to possibly find a better pair of shoes. Often, shoes may work well for the dancer at first, but once they soften they may not support the foot as well.

Just as it takes much practice to become skilled in ballet, most pointe dancers will need to try wearing many variations of shoes to ultimately find the very best pair.
